If you have a couple hours to spare a walking trail is great option as a change from beaches and pools. The Resort Lookout is a steep 30min walk on the Scenic Trail. Trail head at the Whitsunday Apartments. The Resort lookout offers superb views in all direction - Catseye Bay, the Marina, Airport and other Whitsunday Islands. Best to do this very eary morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat of the day.
